Security

Security is the most important issue Trusco Capital Management (Trusco) faces in making online services available for our clients. Using industry standard security techniques ensures that your personal financial information remains confidential. Trusco uses security technologies such as: your personal customer number and password, encryption and firewalls. The combination of your customer number and password enables you to be uniquely identified to Trusco. It is your responsibility to keep your password secure. You will also need to use a secure browser. Certain browsers have the ability to communicate securely by encrypting the information as it passes across the Internet. This method of communication is called Secure Socket Layer (SSL). Trusco requires the use of a secure browser before you can log in. Additionally, your information passes through a "firewall" which is a computer specifically designed to keep out unauthorized users.

Session Security

How to ensure that your session is secure!
Once you've downloaded and installed your browser, here's how you can check for yourself that your session is secure. As you browse through the resources available on the Internet, you'll notice that your browser's status bar changes with the Web page you have loaded. For example, check your Netscape browser for the security icon in the lower left corner of the browser. Microsoft displays the icon in the lower right corner of the browser window. You should see a pad lock graphic either locked or unlocked like this:

Microsoft Internet Explorer N/A
Netscape Communicator 4.0

How Trusco Protects You

One of our most important priorities is safeguarding your personal financial information. As technology continues to advance, Trusco will continue to provide safeguards to keep your information confidential and secure.

Here are some of the ways we protect your personal financial information:

Secure Transmissions - When information is transmitted between you and a Trusco Web site using a secure form, we encrypt the transmission of that information by using technologies such as Secure Socket Layer (SSL). We can only ensure encryption when the communication begins on a Trusco site using one of our secure forms.

Firewalls - Individuals or networks that attempt to access Trusco networks without authorization are kept out by firewalls. They serve two main purposes - to prevent network traffic and to permit it. Messages that enter or leave the Trusco network pass through a firewall, which reviews each message and blocks those that do not meet our established criteria. The use of firewalls is one of our key Information Security safeguards.

Virus Protection - Trusco utilizes virus software to prevent viruses from infecting our computer networks. We also recommend that you install and use virus protection software on your own computer. Use it to scan all files that you receive - including ones you download from Web sites.
